The History of Apple Valley
When Ed and Gretel Metzger founded Apple Valley over 45 years ago, it fulfilled Ed’s dream to recapture the essence of a special place in California called Apple Valley, the home of the cowboy singers Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. When Ed Metzger acquired the property in Milford, Pennsylvania, his dream began to take shape.
First, there was a pancake house, a motel and some cabins on the property. Then, the concept of the Village evolved within a tranquil country sanctuary with ponds, waterfalls, rolling meadows, fruit trees, and evergreens. The pancake house was transformed into Apple Valley Restaurant and the cabins became the specialty shops.
We invite you to stroll the grounds, feed the ducks and browse through the shops. Over the years, the Metzger's have created a theme that captures the weathered, timeless spirit of America. Apple Valley grows as Milford grows. Today Steve Metzger is proud to welcome you as his guest and hopes you enjoy the heritage of American foods at Apple Valley Restaurant and the pleasure of companionship and entertainment at the Apple Valley Pub.
